Wu Man Performs Virtual Program “The Journey of Chinese Pipa: Ancient Ties for Modern Sound,” Presented by IDAGIO in Partnership with GBH, Saturday, June 12 at 4:00 p.m. ET

BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS (June 4, 2021) — Wu Man, “the world’s finest player of the pipa” (The New York Times), takes audiences on an illuminating and deeply personal journey, showing how the pipa’s story has shaped her own, in a new, virtual, solo pipa concert program streamed via IDAGIO’s Global Concert Hall in partnership with Boston public media producer GBH. Titled “An Evening with Wu Man—The Journey of Chinese Pipa: Ancient Ties for Modern Sound,” the program features a mixture of traditional music, improvisation, and pipa compositions, including works written by Ms. Wu herself. The recital was recorded at GBH’s Fraser Performance Studio while she was in Boston to accept an honorary doctorate from the New England Conservatory, alongside fellow honorees Deborah Borda, Emmanuel Ax, and Carl Atkins (see photo below).
