NEW YORK, NEW YORK (February 15, 2023) — Renowned pianist, composer, and writer Sir Stephen Hough returns to Manhattan’s 92NY on Thursday, March 30 at 7:30 p.m. for a solo recital program that celebrates composer-pianists and includes the New York premiere of his own Sonatina Nostalgica.
The recital opens with Mompou’s Cants Mágics (Magic Songs), Scriabin’s Piano Sonata No. 5, Opus 53, and Debussy’s Estampes, L.100. The second half opens with Sir Stephen’s Sonatina Nostalgica and concludes with Liszt’s 3 Petrarch Sonnets and Après une lecture du Dante: Fantasia quasi Sonata from Années de Pèlerinage (Years of Pilgrimage.)
