Jennifer Koh and Davóne Tines Perform New York Premiere of "Everything Rises" at BAM Next Wave 2022, October 12–15

An original, evening-length musical and theatrical experience, Everything Rises retraces the artistic journeys of its creators, reflects upon issues of race and identity in the arts, and shares the inspiration the creators have found in their family histories.

NEW YORK (August 31, 2022) — Grammy Award-winning violinist Jennifer Koh and trailblazing bass-baritone Davóne Tines bring their critically acclaimed collaboration Everything Rises to New York this fall for four nights at BAM’s Next Wave 2022. Developed over multiple years by an all-BIPOC creative team including composer Ken Ueno and director Alexander Gedeon, Everything Rises is an evening-long, staged, multimedia-infused musical work about connection, resonance, and the creation of a new artistic space. Through music, projections, and recorded interviews, Koh and Tines tell the story of their artistic journeys and family histories, taking the audience along on their inward journey to reclaim the narratives about who they are and how they got to where they are today. As a platform, the project also fulfills a need for artists of color to be seen and heard.

Performances take place Wednesday, October 12; Thursday, October 13; Friday, October 14; and Saturday, October 15—all at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $35. BAM Members receive 20% off through September 5. No promo code needed. All performances will adhere to protocols developed in accordance with New York State regulations and in consultation with medical professionals for the safety of BAM artists, audiences, and staff. Visit tickets.bam.org to purchase.
