Minnesota Orchestra To Celebrate Former Music Director Edo de Waart’s 80th Birthday with Concerts Led by the Conductor, October 14 and 15

MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA (OCTOBER 1, 2021) — Edo de Waart, the Minnesota Orchestra’s Music Director from 1986 to 1995, returns to the podium at Orchestra Hall for concerts celebrating his 80th birthday on Thursday, October 14 at 11:00 a.m. CT and Friday, October 15 at 8:00 p.m. CT. He conducts the Orchestra in John Adams’ Tromba Lontana (Fanfare for Houston); Haydn’s Cello Concerto in D major, featuring Principal Cello Anthony Ross; and Dvořák’s Eighth Symphony—a program that allows him to showcase what made his tenure with the Orchestra so special.
